Methias vs Natsu

The underground arena. Where life and death touch hands, together in harmony.

It was the first round of the Underground Psychic tournament. The match ups had been drawn, the rules had been stated, and it was time to begin. Across this tournament, there was a range of weak PSI users, all the way up to the strong. By the end of the tournament, one would stand above the rest. That one would be the victor, and he alone shall claim the ultimate prize. Whatever that was. This match up? Methias vs Natsu. A man vs a child, yet with no certainty of who would reign victorious. Neither had been seen in battle before, and as such, it would only be a matter of time before people would have an opinion of them.

Peering around the area, Methias began to take note of his surroundings. This area wasn't like the others. It was an arena. Underground, of course, but an arena nonetheless. This arena, however, actually seemed to be incredibly akin to that of the Greek Colosseum. Considering the size of the place, it was incredible that it could all fit underground. There was also many weapons lying around the area, ranging from swords to spears. Everything a spectator could dream of. However, these spectators were nowhere to be seen. It was probably because of the explosive potential of Psi users. Being in the general area could be dangerous to others, and as such, it was best that these people be left alone to do battle. And yet, there could be no killing in this tournament. A shame, really. This could have quite easily been a blood bath. Something truly fun.

Letting out a light yawn, Methias flicked his red hair to the side, the strands of white revealing his position even in the darkness. His opponent, Natsu, would appear soon, and battle would commence.

Natsu walked into the arena, surprising the spectators. They heard that Natsu was a child, but they didn't think she would be that young. They were expecting something like a teenager, but instead they were greeted by a 9 year old girl.

Natsu looked around the area, thinking about what she could do. She noted the size of the arena, as big as the Colosseum. She noticed the weapons lying down on the ground, and decided to pick one up. She decided on a nice and small dagger, reliable and quick.

Natsu then noticed something along the sides of the arena, cameras.

Natsu looked at her opponent, a man of normal size. She didn't know his powers, or anything else about him, but she didn't really care either. She was here to win, that was all there was to it.

"Big Chill" Natsu whispered and the immediate area went down in temperature tremendously, the floor and weapons became covered in ice. Soon the influence stretched along the arena.

Folding his arms across his chest, Methias looked over in anticipation of his opponents arrival. He knew she was young, although that meant nothing to him. If a child was strong enough to fight, they were strong enough to die. To rot in the earth like their ancestors before them. This day would be truly a bloodbath, if Methias had his own way. Tilting his head to one side, he simply gazed into the oppositions entry into the Arena.

And then she appeared. A young girl, no older than ten. This could have been told by a relative lack of development in the chest region. She also had a young face, but as a man, that was the second thing Methias checked. However, there was one thing that was out of the ordinary. She was over five foot, for sure. That indicated she was either tall for her age, or was in fact older than her appearance showed. However, that would not change the way this battle would pan out. One would win, one would lose, and the winner would be the male standing before the child. He could feel it within him. His task was a simple one, to prove his worth, and find out any information on Exile that he possibly could. However, it was unlikely that this child would have any connection. It was unlikely that anyone in this tournament would have any connection. However, he had to be sure.

It was then that he saw her lips move, although he heard nothing. The air suddenly felt colder, however. Her abilities were already being revealed to Methias, which could prove to be her downfall. You should always wait until the last moment to reveal your strengths, atleast that's what Methias was taught. Shrugging the chill off, he moved into a slightly unusual stance. He firstly turned to his side, his left arm leading the way. His left hand was pointed directly ahead of him, an open palm showing itself to Natsu. His right hand hovered by his face, the bottom two fingers closed, the other two and his thumb apparently covering his mouth. He then appeared to be light on his feet.

"I'm coming." he said beneath his breath, but loud enough for Natsu to hear. As he said so, his arms moved slightly, his left elbow now leading the charge, his his right hand dropping down slightly. His mouth was still covered, but now by his left arm. Within a single movement, he appeared before Natsu, aiming to hit her in the face with his elbow. At the same time, his right hand pushed forwards, aiming to hit her in the stomach and take her off her feet. Round one had finally begun.

Natsu readied herself when she acknowledged what Methias was saying. She activated her Rise and watched Methias.

Natsu sensed her oppenents movement and jumped back to dodge both of his attacks. She backflipped and with her enhanced reflexes, managed not to slip onto the ice. She slid back and picked up a large sword and using momentum, flung it towards Methias.

Using slight wind control, Natsu continued to maintain her momentum backwards and picked up more weapons to fire at Methias.

Methias felt nothing. Both of his initial attacks had failed to connect with his target. Perhaps this fight wouldn't be a complete waste of time after all. Unlike Natsu, Methias pretty much had his Rise activated all the time. Training in the harsh environment of Exile gained him a considerable advantage over most people, although there were of course some who were above and beyond his capabilities, for now. Moving his hands back, he returned to a fighting pose, and watched Natsu's movements for a while. As she took into the air, he noticed how she moved rather flamboyantly. Chosing to utilize a back flip, she would have taken her eye's off of Methias for just a moment. After all, it was impossible to keep looking in one location while rotating three hundred and sixty degrees. People who do that are either over-confident, know they can win, or just stupid. Methias assumed the first.

As her eye's faced away from Methias, he smirked, however, he didn't move. It was more than likely he was about to test her skill, to see how she would attack. She landed without slipping. She at least had some talent, and knew how to counter her own abilities. This gave her a slight edge above most competition. From what Methias had seen, most PSI users believed their powers to be unbeatable, which was never the case. All abilities have a weakness, you just have to find them first. She then pushed herself onto the ice, using its natural slippery capabilities to create a distance advantage. Whilst doing so, she grabbed hold of a relatively sized sword, a longsword in fact, and flung it in Methias' direction.

A smirk creeped on to his face. She used the ice to create a larger gap, meaning there was more room for Methias to cover. As the sword came in at an alarming speed, Methias swiftly moved to the left, ever so slightly, and grabbed the sword by the hilt. It stopped instantly, becoming Methias' weapon instead of Natsu's. "Interesting child, it would be such a pleasure to carve her limbs..."

And then it was time. Time to reveal his own capabilities, although it would only be a portion of them. She had revealed her initial techniques, and he would reveal his. Raising his right leg into the air, he slammed it into the ground, shooting himself into the air. Within a single moment, however, he had stopped, around ten foot high. He seemed to be levitating, manipulating the wind into a platform which he could utilize in various ways. He waited until she reached the arena's walls, preventing her from moving back much further. He then pushed forwards, throwing himself through the air at high speeds, aiming just in front of Natsu. As he did so, he swung the sword before even reaching Natsu. However, upon reaching his destination, he slammed the sword into the ground, which then swung his body around it, aiming a kick for her face.

Natsu bended her body back in order to move out of the way from the kick to her head. She ducked under Methias quickly and kicked away the sword from under him. She heated a small area where her foot met the ground and the ice melted away instantly as Natsu used the now more gripping surface to kick herself back and away from her opponent.

All the while, Natsu focused wind into a single point within her hand and utilized wind friction to generate plasma. Within seconds the plasma became larger and had reached to about the size of an exercise ball.

"Have a taste of my lightning" Natsu said outloud as she unleashed the ball and shot it out as beams of light which homed in on Methias. They moved through the air like bullets. "Plasma Storm"

Natsu grunted in happiness when she realized that her attack was a success. The beams of plasma homed in and made contact with Methias successfully. The destructive matter burned into the drifter's flesh. The electric energy flowed straight into Methias, most likely causing him massive amounts of pain and possibly paralyzing him due to the effect.

Natsu put her hands in the air and began to circulate wind around herself. The wind began to pick up the frozen weapons and swirl them around as well. In an instant, Natsu unleashed a barrage of weapons towards the wind wielding drifter by directing the wind towards him and then releasing all control to reduce drag.

Feeling the energy pulse through him, Methias smirked with an almost unspeakably evil grin. Pain. Such a beautiful feeling. Several burns floated their way into his flesh, the pain continuing to grow inside him. The second the final blast hit, blood spat from his mouth as he moved into a crouching position on the floor. This girl had some talent, but alas, some things were just meant to be enjoyed. Licking his lips, he struggled to move himself into a standing position. Apparently that shock took a bit out of him, but would this advantage make this fight end suddenly for the young Drifter?

Looking upwards, he saw the wind being manipulated by Natsu once more. This time, she was utilizing the wind to circulate the wind around her, the weapons lying on the ground joining the already impressive attack. Shaking his head, he stamped onto the floor once more, recovering quickly from the mild paralysis that had taken hold of him just moments before. In the air, he hardened the area beneath him before shooting himself at high speed using a mixture of burst and rise PSI. In an instant, he appeared above Natsu, the air around her distorting in a strange way, before landing on the ground just three meters away.

Upon landing, the weapons had flown towards his previous position. As such, there was now a distinct gap between Natsu and Methias, without an item in between. The first round had now finally begun.
