The Fall of Hope
Cheat my heart and leave me to dart
Dart back from whence I came
Send me into eternal shame
How dare I love, how dare I hope
That you and I could ever be
It is, of course, only me
And single I'll forever be
Those three small words dripped from your lips
Lips that I longed to kiss
And with that kiss you'd be mine
And I'd be your's
The sun would shine
And we would run and laugh and play
Leave all our troubles, see them away
But now I know that it was a foolish dream
And that day will never come to light
Forever I wallow in Depression's might
Something's here and it is gone
Shadows take away my song
My voice is empty, heart is bare
Emotions run below my hair
In my mind I do foresee
That you will someday be with me
But with no emotions my heart protests
Such hopefulness I lay to rest
